With a brilliant Josh Allen, Bills humiliate Rams

Josh Allen threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns, Von Miller had two of Buffalo’s seven catches against his former teammates, and the Bills made it clear they are looking to take this year’s Super Bowl title away from the Los Angeles Rams by beating them 31-10 on Thursday night in the NFL’s 2022 regular-season opener.

Gabe Davis, Isaiah McKenzie and Stefon Diggs caught touchdown tosses for the two-time defending American Conference East Division champion Bills, who kicked off the NFL’s 103rd season by overcoming four turnovers and escaping with a convincing win from the same stadium where the Rams won the Super Bowl nearly seven months ago.

Allen completed 26 of 31 passes, although he did suffer two interceptions. He also contributed 56 yards on the ground, including 4 on a carry to the diagonals, stretching the ball to break the plane with 13:27 minutes to play.

The star quarterback took his fair share of hits, but he also dished out some. He also showed a resilient arm in a duel in which Buffalo’s offense, under new offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, virtually dominated the league monarchs.

Matthew Stafford passed for 240 yards and a touchdown. However, he had three interceptions on a dismal night for the Rams, who lost an opener and fell below the .500 mark for the first time in head coach Sean McVay’s six-season tenure.
