The Devils are playing at the major league level.
Dominican Robinson Canó was the figure in the Red Devils’ victory over the New York Yankees. The former Bronx Bombers player assured that the capital team showed that it is at the “Major League level” after winning the first game of the preseason series by four runs to three.
“There is a group of guys who work hard, I only have 10 days, but they have been there since February 22, we all want to be ready to give this team a championship. Both the owners and the managers, the fans, we need a championship, we are showing that the season starts today, we are playing at the Major League level, they almost came back in the ninth, but we got the victory,” said Robinson. Canó, infielder of the Devils… Reds, after the victory over the Yankees.
A home run by Canó opened the scoring in favor of the Red Devils, and another of his hits helped increase the lead, although the Yankees got closer in the ninth inning.
“The home run feels great, but the win feels better. In front of all the fans he had talked to me about what it is like, but it is not the same as living it. It gives you adrenaline and I am super happy with the result,” added Canó.
For his part, Lorenzo Bundy, manager of the Red Devils, commented that they played an “almost perfect” game, despite the fact that they almost came back in the ninth inning.
“I am very happy, the boys have been working for almost a month, they have everything to win, it got complicated in the ninth, we survived, it was an almost perfect game, until the ninth inning with two outs. We did a lot on defense, I’m happy for the boys, because they did everything possible to win this game,” Bundy explained.
In turn, Trevor Bauer mentioned that he only focuses on the current situation of his team and avoids looking to the future, after signing for five regular season games.
“I don’t have an answer about my future, I’m focused on today and I came here to enjoy today,” said Bauer, after a good outing against the Yankees.
