Snowstorm forces Steelers-Bills duel postponed
The Bills will host the Steelers on Monday at 4:30 p.m. instead Sunday afternoon due to a snow storm approaching Buffalo.
The Buffalo Bills’ wild card round game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was scheduled to be played this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET, has been rescheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. ET due to an incoming snow storm to prioritize safety in the region.
The measure was announced at a press conference held this Saturday afternoon by the governor of the state of New York, Kathy Hochul. The decision came after conversations with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, emergency response teams, Bills management and the NFL.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the Buffalo area and surrounding counties, including Erie County, which is home to Orchard Park Stadium, New York. According to AccuWeather, more than a foot of snow (and up to three feet) is expected in the Buffalo area, and with winds potentially up to 65 mph. A travel ban will also apply from 9:00 p.m. this Saturday.
The Bills also had a game in November of last season against the Cleveland Browns scheduled to be played at Highmark Stadium, moved due to extreme snow and wind so resources could be focused on people in the Buffalo area. The game was played at Ford Field in Detroit.
In the latest case of a playoff game postponed due to weather, the NFL moved the time of the Steelers’ 2016 divisional round game against the Kansas City Chiefs from 1:05 p.m. ET at 8:20 p.m. m. Eastern Time.
