Pacquiao Announces Retirement from Professional Boxing

The announcement comes weeks after his last defeat

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao has officially announced his retirement from professional boxing a few days after his last loss to Cuban Yordenis Ugas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At the end of that fight where his opponent won by Unanimous Decision, ‘Pacman’ said that his legs had not responded as he expected and that he would seriously analyze his continuity in the ring.

Weeks later and after the announcement that he will seek the presidency of the Philippines, the confirmation of the end of his career in which he left a record of 62 wins, 8 losses and two draws has arrived.

“My career as a professional boxer is over. And it is over because I have been in boxing for a long time and my family has told me that enough is enough,” confirmed the also senator.

Among the most prominent opponents faced by the so-called ‘Devourer of Mexicans’ are Juan Manuel Marquez, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Timothy Bradley Jr, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, among others.

In total, during his 26-year career, Manny participated in eight different categories, where he became world champion in all of them, making him a historic fighter who has earned a place in the Professional Boxing Hall of Fame.
