Kyle denied victory over Holland

Originally the fight ended with a rear-naked choke, but upon review it was determined there was accidental contact.

The highly anticipated bout between Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus came to an unexpected end Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Walker at the APEX in Las Vegas.

The fight began standing with exchanges of punches until Daukaus accidentally made contact with his head on Holland’s chin, who fell face-first to the canvas.

After referee Dan Miragliotta threatened to step in to stop the bout for the punch, Holland got to his feet and continued to fight, but found himself at a disadvantage against Daukaus, who took his back and punished him before applying a rear-naked choke.

As the bout continued, Miragliotta signaled for the punch to be reviewed on replay.

At the conclusion of the bout, Miragliotta exited the cage and reviewed the action on the screens and, after a few minutes of deliberation, returned to the octagon to determine the No Contest, nullifying Daukaus’ victory.

The result prevented Holland from suffering his third straight loss and he stands at 21-7 (1), while Daukaus was unable to recover from his recent loss to Phil Hawes, falling to 10-2.

UFC Fight Night 193 is headlined by a bout between semi-completeweight contenders Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker, and Kevin Holland will face Kyle Daukaus at middleweight in the co-main event.
