Isaac will not remain on Cowboys staff

The Mexican offensive lineman will remain on the practice squad as a waiver through the NFL International Player Pathway Program.
Mexican offensive lineman Isaac Alarcón’s dream of making his regular-season debut with the Dallas Cowboys will have to wait.

According to a report from the Dallas Morning News, Alarcon will not be part of the Cowboys’ 53-man roster for the 2021 season, however, he will remain with the practice squad as Dallas will once again use a waiver spot as part of the NFL International Player Pathway Program.

Alarcon, who transitioned from tackle to guard, made his preseason debut with the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was four complete offensive series for Alarcon midway through the game, in addition to assisting in the field goal attempt formation. In the second half of the fourth period, Alarcon re-entered for a fifth and sixth offensive series.

In the final preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Alarcon was one of the Cowboys’ captains.

Alarcon came to Dallas last year as part of the international program and was also not promoted to the team’s active roster. The Cowboys can use Alarcón’s exception spot for three years.

Last April, Alarcon was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the third round of the Canadian Football League’s Global Draft.

Although Alarcon is under contract with the Cowboys, should he try his luck in the future in the CFL his rights now belong to Calgary.
