Henry to undergo foot surgery and be out indefinitely

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry will undergo foot surgery and there is no timetable for his return, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said Monday.

Henry was injured during Sunday’s 34-31 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

The NFL’s leading rusher with 937 yards, Henry has 353 more yards than any other player in the league. He also leads the league with 10 touchdown carries.

On Sunday, Henry rushed 28 times for 68 yards. He appeared to receive medical attention on his right foot toward the end of the second half, but returned to the field shortly thereafter.

The 2020 NFL Offensive Player of the Year did not speak to reporters after the game.

Henry, 27, led the league last year with 378 carries for 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Titans placed backup running back Darrynton Evans on the injured reserve list last week, losing him for the season with a knee injury.

Tennessee also has running backs Jeremy McNichols and Dontrell Hilliard on the roster.

Adrian Peterson, 36, who ranks fifth all-time in NFL rushing yards, is traveling to Nashville to rejoin the Titans and to possibly help fill the hole Henry would leave.

The Titans (6-2) currently have the best record in the AFC after winning four straight games.

Tennessee visits the Los Angeles Rams next week before returning home to host the New Orleans Saints and Houston Texans in consecutive weeks.
