Fury takes out Wilder with a brutal 11 round KO

The ‘Gypsy King’ retained the World Boxing Council heavyweight championship after a fight of the year candidate.

The World Boxing Council heavyweight championship remains in the hands of Tyson Fury after a great performance against Deontay Wilder to close out his trilogy at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fury retained the belt with a brutal knockout in the eleventh round after a battle in which both contenders visited the canvas repeatedly, but in the end, the ‘Gypsy King’ came out with his fist in the air.

The fight began with an exchange of punches, there was no study round, with Wilder taking the initiative and even connecting with better punches, but Fury was the one who caused more damage when in the third he sent him to the canvas with a powerful bomb.

Against all odds, Wilder got up and set off the champion’s alarms, sending him to the canvas twice in the fourth, however, he could not finish him and from that moment on the fight was carried with the rhythm dictated by Fury.

From the fifth onwards, the Briton owned the ring, constantly hurting Wilder’s face, who kept on his feet showing great heart.

But the scares were not over for Fury, who sent Wilder to the canvas in the tenth round before the challenger found the face of the ‘Gypsy King’ to put him in bad shape before the bell.

Wilder’s motivation was short-lived, as Fury came back to dominate in the 11th and finished the trilogy with a powerful punch to the face that sent the Bronze Bomber face-first to the canvas, forcing referee Russell Mora to step in to stop the fight.

With the win, Fury scored the first successful defense of his belt and improved his record to 31-0-1 with 22 knockouts, while Wilder stood at 41-2-1 with 41 knockouts.

In their first meeting, Fury got up from the canvas to salvage a draw and maintain his unbeaten record against Wilder, and in their second bout, the Briton was the winner with a resounding knockout.
