Font enters for Umar to face Cory Sandhagen

Sandhagen vs. Font will take place at a catch weight instead of 135 pounds, sources said, though it was not immediately clear what weight that would be. The fight will continue to be five rounds.

Font was scheduled to face Song Yadong at UFC 292 on August 19 in Boston, but Song is out of that fight for undisclosed reasons, sources said.

Nurmagomedov withdrew from the fight this week with a shoulder injury that requires surgery.

Font (20-6) is ranked No. 9 at bantamweight in their divisional standings, while Sandhagen is No. 5 (Nurmagomedov is unranked). In the UFC rankings, Nurmagomedov is No. 11, Font is No. 7 and Sandhagen is No. 4.

Font is coming off defeating Adrián Yáñez at UFC 287 in April after racking up back-to-back losses to José Aldo and Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera.

Sandhagen (16-4) is coming off a split decision victory over Vera in March. He has only lost to three men in the UFC, all former or current champions: defending champion Aljamain Sterling and former champions TJ Dillashaw and Petr Yan.
