Champions League returns with new rules
The round of sixteen is underway and the main change to the usual rules is that away goals no longer count double.
In other words, if a team tied 1-1 away and then the next game was 0-0, the team that scored away would advance.
But this time UEFA did away with this rule.
UEFA’s executive committee approved the proposal to eliminate the so-called away goals rule from all UEFA competitions.
In case of a draw, the matches will be extended to extra time, and if the score remains the same, a penalty shootout will be held to decide the winner of the tie.
