Brady put his NFL future on hold

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady put on hold Monday night whether he will return for the 2023 NFL season with his team.

“This moment just feels like the end of the season, for today I just want to go home and get a good night’s sleep; I want to thank everybody for this year. I’m going to take this one day at a time,” Brady said at a press conference.

The quarterback spoke after Tampa Bay’s 14-31 elimination this Monday against the Dallas Cowboys in the National Conference Wild Card Round of the 2022 NFL season.

The widely regarded as the greatest player in history had one of his worst playoff games in his 23-year career; he totaled 351 yards and two touchdowns; he suffered an interception and was caught twice.

The 45-year-old quarterback kept his parting tone in his words to the fans and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I really appreciate all your effort, I know it was hard for everyone, even us players. We all worked hard to get here; to everyone watching, to the fans I’m very grateful for everyone’s support,” he concluded.

In his turn at the press conference, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said he will talk in the coming weeks with Brady about his plans.

“I will sit down with Tom to have a conversation, but there is nothing public to say at this time,” the head coach stressed.

Tom Brady finishes his contract with Tampa Bay next March which will make him a free agent for the second time in his career, that will allow him to renegotiate if he wants to stay with the Bucs, sign with another team or announce his retirement.

The veteran came to the Bucs for the 2020 campaign after winning six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. With Tampa Bay, he lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy in the NFL’s LV title game.

Tom Brady said goodbye to the league in February 2022, a decision he regretted 40 days later to play in the campaign that ended on Monday.
