Belford showed no mercy against Holyfield

The former UFC semi-featherweight champion knocked out the former multiple heavyweight boxing champion in the first round in Hollywood, Florida.
Former UFC semi-featherweight champion Vitor Belfort showed no mercy on veteran Evander Holyfield and knocked him out after demolishing him with punches in the first round of their eight-round Triller Fight Club PPV headlining bout at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Belfort overwhelmed Holyfield with his punches from the start of the bout, sending him to the canvas before forcing the referee to step in to stop the fight.

Belfort was originally scheduled to face Oscar de la Hoya, but the fight was cancelled due to the Golden Boy’s positive COVID-19 test and instead faced Holyfield, 14 years his senior.

The age difference was too much for Holyfield, who had no weapons to defend himself against Belfort’s effective combinations to the face.

At the end of the bout, Belfort issued a challenge to Jake Paul to fight him and a purse of $30 million was offered for him to accept the bout.

This was the first fight for the 58-year-old Holyfield (44-10-2, 29 KOs) since he defeated Brian Nielsen by 10th round technical knockout in May 2011.

Belfort retired from mixed martial arts after losing in May 2018 by knockout to Lyoto Machida in two rounds.

In the co-main event fight, between former UFC champions, Anderson Silva also finished Tito Ortiz in the first round.
