What the AFC South looks like at the start of the season

We take a look at what the American Conference South has in store for us with the arrival of a new regular season.
The AFC South will be a division of contrasts. On the one hand, a pair of teams armed to crush their opponents on the ground look to be the heavy favorites for the division championship and to make noise in the postseason.

The other two? They will probably focus on continuing to put together, piece by piece, a squad that will allow them to fight in the future against the other two, under the command of new head coaches.

The disparity between one and the other, and the fact that the clubs in this sector face the East of the National League could allow whoever emerges as champion of the South to be in the fight for the first place in the American playoffs.

Either way, this is a division where the two teams that are expected to play the biggest roles are betting on winning games the old-fashioned way – a dominant ground game and a solid defense – in an NFL revolutionized by explosive aerial circuses. Anyone facing this pair of clubs will need to be well armed in the trenches, and looking for a quick lead on the scoreboard that will get them out of their game plan early. All in all, it might not be enough.
