Jets QB out two to four weeks with injury
New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will miss two to four weeks after an MRI exam Saturday morning revealed a bone bruise and meniscus tear in his right knee, sources confirmed.
The Jets believe there is a chance Zach Wilson will be ready for the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
Joe Flacco, 37, moves to the top of the list to replace him, followed by Mike White and Chris Streveler.
Zach Wilson will undergo a surgical procedure, but the meniscus does not need a complete repair, just a trimming, the source reported. The arthroscopic surgery is expected to determine whether Wilson misses two to four weeks.
The New York Post first reported Zach Wilson’s injuries and recovery time.
This is a big break for the Jets. Things looked bleak when Wilson, the second overall pick in the 2021 draft, limped into the locker room Friday night at Lincoln Financial Field. He was injured on the Jets’ second series and ninth play from scrimmage from the line of scrimmage against the Philadelphia Eagles.
It was a non-contact injury as Zach Wilson, coming out of the pocket, tried to cut inside instead of coming off the field. His knee buckled on the field and he went down. Wilson left the game and immediately headed to the locker room.
Jets will continue their preseason with games against Atlanta Falcons and then New York Giants. The regular season kicks off against Baltimore Ravens; the second game is in Cleveland against Browns and the Week 4 game – which would be Wilson’s last away – will be in Pittsburgh against Steelers.
