Nadal, one step away from the top eight at Wimbledon

With Australian Open and Roland Garros titles behind him, the 22-time major champion wants to feel the glory again at Wimbledon. In search of the quarterfinals, he will face one of the renewed faces of the men’s tour: Botic Van de Zandschulp (25th).

The Spaniard has won four titles this season: Melbourne, Australian Open, Acapulco and Roland Garros. In the run-up to London, he preferred to compete in an exhibition in Hurlingham and jumped to play officially directly on Centre Court. In the next round, in search of the ticket that would place him among the last eight of the draw, he will play against Botic Van de Zandschulp from the Netherlands.

The player from Wageningen accumulated victories over Feliciano Lopez, Emil Ruusuvuori and Richard Gasquet to meet for the second consecutive time in a Grand Slam with ‘La Fiera’. Weeks ago, at Roland Garros, Nadal won the only match they have played so far with a 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4 score.

This Monday, Nadal (looking for his 47th Grand Slam quarter-final) and Van de Zandschulp (trying to reach his second quarter-final after the US Open 2021) will meet on the All England Centre Court.
