Ramirez beats Devers in vote update
Cleveland Guardians shortstop Jose Ramirez has taken the lead over compatriot Rafael Devers in the latest tally of votes for the Dodger Stadium All-Star Game starters.
‘Mr. LaPara’ trailed in the previous report by just over 16,000 votes but the Cleveland player has since gained a 34,000-vote advantage.
Last season, Devers was selected as a starter in his first All-Star Game, while Ramirez was selected among the reserves for his third game last season in Colorado.
Ramirez (1,219,704) leads the American League in runs batted in with 63 and owns a .300 batting average with a .387 OBP with 16 homers.
In the case of Devers (1,185,906) he is the player with the most hits in the Major Leagues with 97 and is the leader in the young circuit with 26 doubles, while batting .333 with an OBP of .390.
The competition in the anteroom among the Dominicans also moves to the possible lineup that would put the Quintana Roo team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, where the figure of Manny Machado, who is the current leader for the position in the National League All-Star Game with 1,563,188 votes, is also added.
Other close battles include Jazz Chisholm Jr. (1,066,927) and Ozzie Albies (984,846) in the middle infield, and Mookie Betts (2,270,566) and Ronald Acuña Jr. (2,197,684) in the National League outfield.
