Warriors to contest their 6th Final in 8 years
One of the fastest comebacks in recent years is the one that has San Francisco’s team back in contention for the Larry O’Brien trophy. It was only three years that the ‘Golden State’ team and its fans had to wait to return to the final championship series.
The most recent occasion occurred in 2019, when they lost 4-2 to the Toronto Raptors in what was their fifth consecutive appearance, as they had just played the Finals in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning three of them (2015, 2017 and 2018).
This will be sixth NBA Finals appearance for the Warriors in the last eight years.
A key piece for the locals to dominate from the beginning of the game and mark a clear advantage on the scoreboard was shooting guard Klay Thomposon who finished the first half with 19 points, 16 of them in 13 minutes thanks to his 7-11 from the field and a 5-8 in three-pointers. At the end of the game he scored 32 points with 8-16 from the arc and 12-25 from the field.
playoff game with 7 or more three-pointers, the second most all-time. Only Stephen Curry has more (16).
His ‘Splash brother’, Stephen Curry was off during the first two quarters contributing only five units; however, he dished out assists. At the end of the four periods, the ‘Chef’ contributed 15 units.
Meanwhile, the Mavs’ slow start cost them the result, as Mavs star Luka Doncic was limited to 6 points in the first half, while Spencer Dinwiddie contributed 17 coming off the bench.
In the end, Doncic’s 28 points and Dinwiddie’s 26 points were of little use, as the rest of the Texans had little to show for it.
