Hill finished in the first round with Johnny Walker
The UFC’s semi-featherweight division will have a drastic change in its top-15 following Jamahal Hill’s first-round knockout victory over Brazilian Johnny Walker in Saturday’s UFC Vegas 48 main event at the APEX.
The Brazilian Walker, who came in ranked No. 10 in the division, was more active throwing punches, however, the No. 12 Hill only needed one punch to end the bout.
According to the official stats, Walker connected on 12 total goals, all power shots, to Hill’s 7 total, 6 of them significant.
In other words, Walker had a 12-5 advantage in total punches before Hill connected with a right to the head that sent the Brazilian to the canvas and then finished the job with another impact to the chin that left his opponent inert on the canvas at 2:55 of the first round.
With the win, Hill moves to 9-1 with five knockouts, stringing together wins for the first time in his UFC career after knocking out Jimmy Crute last December.
Since his arrival in the UFC, Hill defeated Darko Stosic by unanimous decision, knocked out Klidson Abreu, but the result was overturned due to a marijuana positive, knocked out Ovince Saint Preux and was knocked out by Paul Craig prior to his recent streak.
Walker, meanwhile, stagnated at 18-7 dropping four of his last five fights after a spectacular start to his octagon career with three straight first-round knockout wins over Khalil Rountree Jr. (1:57), Justin Ledet (15 seconds) and Misha Cirkunov (36 seconds), before being knocked out by Corey Anderson. His last win was over Ryan Spann in September 2020 by knockout.
