Tim Tszyu Vs Takeshi Inoue

It should be recalled that almost three months ago, the Argentine Brian Castaño received the notification from the World Boxing Organization, the body that endorses him as Super Welterweight champion, that if he does not get the expected rematch against the American Jermell Charlo, he will have to make a mandatory defense against the Australian Tim Tszyu.

Tszyu has a record of 19-0, with 15 knockouts and is a boxing megastar in his country. Ready to make the jump, this could be his last fight in his home backyard. This year, he has wins over Dennis Hogan last March and Steve Spark in his last fight on July 7.

Undoubtedly, Tszyu is looking to make a statement of consistency, against a tough opponent like Japan’s Inoue, to challenge any of the 154-pound champions.

In Inoue’s case, he has a record of 17-1-1 with 10 wins by knockout. His only loss was by decision to then-world champion Jaime Munguia in January 2019. He has won four fights since then, undoubtedly being a very dangerous opponent.

In Tim’s way

According to some sources close to the negotiations, there has been talk that Castaño and Charlo would have a second encounter in the first quarter of 2022 after having starred in a vibrant duel just last July 17 in San Antonio, Texas, where both retained their world belts by decreeing a rather controversial draw, by the way.

Castaño retained the World Boxing Organization belt, and Charlo kept the World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation belts. In fact, the Federation also asked Jermell to make the mandatory defense against Bakhram Murtazaliev after the dramatic contest against the Argentine.
