If Joshua waits, Fury could easily go with Usyk.

Tyson Fury will be assessing his next career move after confirming his current heavyweight supremacy with a dramatic showing against Deontay Wilder last Saturday in Las Vegas, and according to one of his promoters, that could range from a title unification to a mandatory defense or even retirement.

Frank Warren, who in partnership with Bob Arum promote the career of the ‘Gipsy King’, told the English media Mirror that they would love to face Oleksandr Usyk to leave once and for all a single champion in the category. In fact, the World Boxing Council guaranteed them 30 days to reach an agreement for that fight, or else they would have to face Dillian Whyte, interim champion of the division.

“At this point for Usyk, it’s no secret that he has a rematch clause with Anthony Joshua,” Warren said. “But if Anthony Joshua wants to step aside, I’m sure we could easily make that fight,” added the Queensberry Promotions boss about what the boxing future holds for the British monarch.

“Will he (Joshua) step aside? I doubt it, so we don’t know. From our perspective, we’d love to, but if we can’t and Tyson wants to continue boxing, then he’ll have to defend his championship,” shared Warren, who celebrated alongside Arum his fighter’s success despite visiting the canvas twice in a dramatic fourth round.

Finally, he did not rule out the idea of retirement, and at the end of the day, the most important thing is the fighter. “If he doesn’t want to continue boxing, it’s up to him, whatever he decides, he’s the person who gets in the ring, so it’s completely up to him,” Warren said in the interview with the British Mirror.
