Pacquiao puts an end to his boxing career

Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao officially announced his retirement from boxing through a video called “Good bye Boxing” posted on his social networks.

This Tuesday night the champion in eight different divisions made it known that he will stop boxing and to focus on his quest for the presidency of the Philippines.

Pacquiao, who has secured his place in the Boxing Hall of Fame, was champion in Flyweight, Super Bantamweight, Featherweight, Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Super Lightweight, Welterweight and Super Welterweight. Of those eight divisions, he won world-renowned belts in six and the Ring’s championship in two.

This Tuesday, the World Boxing Association announced that it will recognize Pacquiao as its ‘Centennial Champion’.

The last time Pacquiao stepped into the ring was last August, when he lost on points to Cuba’s Yordenis Ugas in a WBA Welterweight title fight.

“My career is over,” Pacquiao declared when asked what would happen to your career after the announcement that he will seek the presidency. “I have been fighting for a long time, and my family has been telling me for a long time that it’s time to stop, I continued because I have this passion for boxing,” he stressed.
