Silva finished Tito Ortiz by knockout in one round

The ‘Spider’ finished the former UFC semi-featured champion before the 2-minute mark in Hollywood, Florida.
Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva put on another solid performance in the ring.

Silva knocked out fellow former UFC semi-featherweight champion Tito Ortiz in the first round with a powerful combination of punches to the face to leave him lying on the canvas completely knocked out.

Ortiz was the one who took the initiative at the beginning of the fight, cornering ‘The Spider’ against the ropes, however, the Brazilian dodged the blows and countered with a flying right to the chin, then finished with a left hook that ended the fight.

Silva last fought in the UFC in October 2020, losing by knockout to Uriah Hall, which was his third consecutive loss and fifth in his last six octagon appearances where he had a 34-11 record.

Between 2006 and 2013, Silva was the UFC’s reigning middleweight champion until he lost the title by knockout to Chris Weidman.

Last June, Silva defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by unanimous decision on the Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. farewell card in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Ortiz last fought at Combate Americas 51, defeating Alberto Rodriguez by submission in the first round, amassing a 21-12-1 mixed martial arts record that included a semi-completeweight championship that he defended five times until it was taken from him by Randy Couture in 2003.

The Silva-Ortiz bout was the co-main event on a bill headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
