Saints give record extension to Marshon Lattimore

Defensive back will receive the most guaranteed money in history for his position with new five-year deal in New Orleans
Cornerback Marshon Lattimore received a five-year, $97.6 million contract extension with the New Orleans Saints, which could reach as high as $100 million.

Lattimore’s contract includes $68.3 million guaranteed.

Lattimore responded to the news of the extension by posting a message on Twitter with a money bag emoji.

However, it wasn’t all good news for Lattimore as he suffered a thumb injury during the win over the Green Bay Packers and will need to undergo an evaluation.

Lattimore, 25, was in the final campaign of his rookie contract and would have become a free agent in 2022.

The 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year has 10 career interceptions and has been to the Pro Bowl three times

Lattimore was arrested on gun possession charges in Cleveland during the preseason and the resolution of the case is still pending, so he could still face punishment from the NFL.
