United welcomes back Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived around 09.20 am in his car and after forty minutes at the sports complex he left the Juventus headquarters without training with his teammates.

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri confirmed Friday at a press conference that Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo “has no intention of playing for Juventus” and that is why he did not train with the team today and will not be called up for this weekend’s league match against Empoli.

Manchester United announced Friday that it has reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo, who thus returns to the team where he scored 118 goals in 292 appearances in his first spell (2003-2009).

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester,” concludes the announcement posted by the English club on its official website.

The club whose first team is coached by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer detailed that the agreement with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is subject to the parties giving the go-ahead to the “personal terms” of the contract, the medical examination and the issuance of a visa for the Portuguese.

Now 36, Ronaldo, who played for Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, has so far won 30 major trophies during his career, including five Champions League titles.

He has also won seven league titles, including championships in England, Spain and Italy, as well as a European Championship with the Portugal national team.

Hours before the English club made the transfer deal official, Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri had already said that Ronaldo “has no intention of playing” for the Italian club this season.

The striker landed in Lisbon on Friday from Turin and had also told waiting journalists that questions about his future would soon be answered.

Meanwhile, the Turin club is already looking for an attacker to make up for the absence of Ronaldo, who already played for Juventus on the first day of Serie A against Udinese, a match that ended in a 2-2 draw, with no goals from the Portuguese who came on in the second half.

Ronaldo left Juventus after three seasons, in which he scored 101 goals in 134 games and won one Italian league title, one Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa.
