Rigondeaux ‘the devil will appear’ to Casimero

Guillermo Rigondeaux and John Riel Casimero will face each other for the World Boxing Organization Bantamweight Championship.
Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux promised that this Saturday the devil will appear this Saturday to the Filipino John Riel Casimero, when they face each other for the World Boxing Organization Bantamweight championship in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions in California territory.

“All these jokers are always talking about how they’re going to retire me, but they have to make it inside the ring. Let’s see what he does this Saturday, because I’m steady,” said Rigondeaux, who is down 2-to-1 in the betting. “Casimero has knocked out six guys in a row, but none of them have been on my level. He will have the devil in front of him this Saturday,” he vowed.

On the other hand, the Filipino Casimero acknowledged the quality of the Cuban, but that was not an impediment to assure that he sees him as a catapult to fights of higher caliber. “Rigondeaux is a great fighter, but this fight is very important for me because I know that my next opponent could be Nonito Donaire or Naoya Inoue,” said Casimero.

In fact, such is John Riel’s confidence that he threatened to knock him out. “Rigondeaux, this fight on August 14 will be your last fight (…). I have stopped my last six opponents, and Rigondeaux will be the next one. He is ‘finito. If I finish him, maybe Donaire or Inoue will be waiting for me. I will have a surprise ready for Rigondeaux this Saturday night. Maybe he’ll last three rounds. Don’t run!” said the monarch.

Also on the card, Gary Antonio Russell and Puerto Rico’s Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Rodriguez will fight for the World Boxing Association interim bantamweight championship, while Damien Vazquez will face former world champion Rau’shee Warren, also in the bantamweight division.
