Rozenstruik destroyed Sakai in one assault

The UFC Vegas 28 main event did not disappoint.

Heavyweight knockout Jairzinho Rozenstruik finished Brazilian Augusto Sakai in the first round in the UFC Fight Night main event at the APEX in Las Vegas.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik didn’t need to get past the first 5-minute mark to knock out Augusto Sakai with his punches and get back on the winning track.

Both fighters looked cautious at the beginning of the fight, however, as the round progressed, Jairzinho Rozenstruik began to gain confidence in his punches, connecting combinations to the body and face of Augusto Sakai.

Shortly before the end of the first episode, Jairzinho Rozenstruik took Augusto Sakai to the fence and when the Brazilian tried to escape to the side he was hit by a fist to the chin, the second impact to the head sent him to the canvas and there he could not defend himself from the punishment of Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

The referee Herb Dean intervened immediately, but could not avoid the impacts of Jairzinho Rozenstruik that caused a couple of cuts on the eyebrows of Augusto Sakai.

With the win, Jairzinho Rozenstruik improved his record to 12-2, bouncing back from his unanimous decision loss to Ciryl Gane last February.

Meanwhile, Augusto Sakai stagnated at 15-3-1, suffering his second straight loss after being knocked out by veteran Alistair Overeem last September after racking up six straight wins.

The final stats were overwhelmingly in favor of Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who landed 66 total punches to Augusto Sakai’s 37, held the advantage in power punches 29-11 and scored the only two knockdowns of the night.
